I study attention and distraction from a value-based decision-making perspective - at the intersection of cognitive psychology and behavioral economics - asking how rational decision variables like speed, reward, and uncertainty govern what we focus our attention on and whether we rely on memory or consult the environment. I use behavioral experiments, eye-tracking, fMRI, and computational modeling across younger and older adults.
